FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY (YEAR A)

1st Reading                Sirach 3:3-7, 14-17 Psalm                          128:1-2, 3, 4-5 (R. cf. 1) R:// "O blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in His ways!" 2nd Reading              Colossians 3: 12-21 Gospel                          Matthew 2:13-15,19-23 DREAM, OBEY, AND PROTECT Friends, Peace and Goodness! Today is the last Sunday of the year. It is also the feast of the Holy Family. The Holy Family is the family of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. As we bring the year to a close, the Holy Family becomes a model for a virtuous Christian life. This Sunday, I suggest we consider the Gospel passage. The Gospel passage is from Matthew 2:13-15,19-23. It is the flight to Egypt. In that passage, we hear the names of each of the members of the Holy Family. It is not enough to identify...

VIGIL MASS OF THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD

1st Reading                       Isaiah 62:1-5 Psalm                                  89:4-5, 16-17, 27 & 29 (R. cf. 2a) R:// "I will sing forever of your mercies, O Lord" 2nd Reading                    Acts 13:16-17, 22-25 Gospel                               Matthew 1:1-25 GOD WRITES YOUR SCRIPT Friends, Peace and Goodness! All too soon, we have arrived at the Vigil of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas). We anticipate the birth of Christ, something we have been preparing for in the season of Advent. Today, I strongly suggest we look at the Gospel passage from Matthew 1:1-25.  The Gospel passage is Jesus' family tree. It is the Genealogy of Jesus. In fact, due to the long list of names, some of which might ap...

4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YEAR A)

1st Reading                    Isaiah 7:10-14 Psalm                               24:1-2, 3-4, 5-6. (R. 7c and 10b)  "R://"Let the Lord enter; he is king of glory." 2nd Reading                 Romans 1:1-7 Gospel                            Matthew 1:18-24 TRUST THE GOD WHO SAVES Friends, Peace and Goodness! All too soon, we have arrived at the 4th Sunday of Advent (Year A), being ushered into the final week of Advent. Additionally, we are also in the second part of Advent (from 17th to 24th December), which focuses on the immediate coming of Christ at Christmas. Today, we shall also light the fourth Advent Candle, the Candle of Love.  Our first reading is from Isaiah 7:10-14. Isaiah 7 deals primarily with issues about the IMMANUEL . The passage t...

3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YEAR A)

1st Reading               Isaiah 35:1-6a, 10 Psalm                          146:6c-7, 8-9a, 9bc-10 (R. cf. Isaiah 35:4) R:// "Come, Lord, and save us" 2nd Reading             James 5:7-10 Gospel                       Matthew 11: 2-11 WAIT WHILE REJOICING Peace and Goodness, friends! Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent (Year A), and the 2nd Sunday of December 2025. The 3rd Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete Sunday, Sunday of Rejoicing. Why? I suggest two reasons for this. The first is that the Entrance Antiphon begins with the imperative Gaudete (Rejoice!). Secondly, our joy is heightened because we are using Rose (or Pink). This colour is a mixture of Violet (or Purple) and a relatively small amount of White. This means that with the mixture of white, Christmas is in view. It is no longer far from us. In f...

2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YEAR A)

1st Reading                 Isaiah 11:1-10 Psalm                            72:1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17 (R. cf. 7) R:// "In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace forever" 2nd Reading              Romans 15:4-9 Gospel                        Matthew 3:1-12 EMBRACE PEACE Friends, Peace and Goodness! Today is a double celebration of the first sunday of December and the 2nd Sunday of Advent (Year A). We ask the Lord to lead us through the month and end the year successfully with us. We need to underline that on the 2nd Sunday of Advent, we light the 2nd Advent candle. This is the candle of Peace. This has much to do for us as we venture into the readings of the day.  The first reading is from Isaiah 11:1-10. We have to know that we are reading from Proto-Isaiah (Chapters 1...
