PRAYER

Tuesday of the first week of Lent. 1st reading: Isaiah 55:10-11 Psalm:      34:4-7,16-19 Gospel: Matthew 6:7-15 Prayer My brothers and sisters in Christ, the gospel reading of today seems to teach us how to pray(Mathew 6:7-15). Prayer is a means of communication between God and man. The pagans babble their prayers so that they may make everyone aware that they know how to pray. In the long run, they end up doing a repetitive prayer. Repeating one thing over and over again is a nuisance which probably tends to disturb. Prayer is meant to be solemn, meditative and following an order. Jesus in the gospel gives us a perfect prayer which contains all that we say each and everyday of our lives; The Lord's Prayer or Our Father or Pater Noster(Latin). This prayer acknowledges the father and goes straight to the point because before we pray,God knows what we are about to ask Him(Mathew 6:8) and this cannot be disputed.  Relating this to the first reading(Isaiah 55...

DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, AN EXALTING CALL TO HOLINESS

DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, AN EXALTING CALL TO HOLINESS The last recourse of the greatest sinners who are on the edge of perdition is devotion to the immaculate Heart of Mary. The message of Fatima also tells us that it is the surest and the quickest road which leads to holiness. During the July 13 apparition,Our lady had told us in the secret that God wanted to establish in the world devotion to Her Immaculate Heart and that, in order to prevent the future of war, She would come to ask for the consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart as well as the the reparatory Communion of the first Saturdays. In another letter, Sister Lucy reports to us the confidences of Our Lord Himself. I very ardently desire the propagation of the cult and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, because that Heart is the magnet which attracts souls to Me, the Heart which radiates on the earth the rays of My light and of My love, the inexhaustible source which causes to pour over the ...

Jubilee of mercy prayer

JUBILEE OF MERCY PRAYER Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heaven father and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your faith and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacheus and Matthew from being enslaved by money. The adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things, made Peter weep after his betrayal and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear as if addressed to each one of us the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman; If you knew the gift of God. You are the visible face of the invisible father. Of the God who manifests His power above all by forgiveness and mercy. Let the church be your visible face in the world. Its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in other that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error. Send your spirit and consecrate everyone of us with its anointing so that the jubilee year of mercy may be ...

lent and Easter

LENT Each year the Church observes the 40 weekdays of Lent before Easter to singnify the 40 days of Lent, which precedes Easter is based on two Biblical accounts: the 40 years of wilderness wandering by the Israelites and our Lord's Jesus Christ 40 days in the wilderness at which point He was tempted by Satan. We participate in abstinence, times of fasting, confession and acts of mercy to strengthen our faith and devotional disciplines. These times are particularly appropriate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies and pilgrimages as signs of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and almsgiving, and fraternal sharing (charitable and missionary works). Lent is about conversion, turning our lives more completely over to Christ and his way of life. That always involves giving up sin in some form. The goal is not just to abstain from sin for the duration of Lent but to root sin out of our lives forever. Conversion means leaving behind an old way of living and acti...

St.Alphonsus liguori

Alphonsus Liguori Feast Day: August 1 Canonized: May 26, 1839 Beatified: September 15, 1816 Alphonsus was what was call a “gifted” student today. He was a lawyer by the time he was 16 years old! He came from a wealthy family in Naples, Italy, and had every advantage in life from the moment he was born in 1696. But his parents were spiritually devoted people, and Alphonsus was taught that the greatest blessing he had been given was his faith. He prayed often and attended Mass even on days when he was appearing in court. Alphonsus found that he was not happy with his life. He sought to understand God’s will for him and finally realized he was being called to the life of a priest. He studied theology and was ordained when he was 29. Alphonsus became famous for his preaching. He spoke so that everyone in church—even people who had never gone to school—could understand his message. He gave retreats for the poor and he encouraged people to pray more often. He founded an order of priests...
